There are few things I feel extremely comfortable in aside from my fleece onesie. However, a boilersuit comes pretty close. Loose-fitting but stylish as hell, casual but chic with heels and easy to layer throughout the year, jumpsuits of old, move aside, there’s a new kid on the block.
The good thing about these boilersuits is that they last a lifetime and they can be put to the back of your wardrobe when they go out of fashion and look brand new once you fish them out again. Some styling moves may change, like the fact that so many people have worn theirs this summer with dad sneakers and bum bags, but essentially, the same item will see you through each and every return. Hint: This season, fashion girls are wearing theirs with roll-necks.
Boiler Suits were first spotted being worn by the big hitters of the fashion world at the various fashion events across the world, which in turn filters down to the street stylers, then onto social media . It was proof that such an item traditionally linked to male workwear could steal the show at the fashion weeks across the world. Since the boilersuit come on the fashion world scene, we’ve been on a non-stop boilersuit mission, confident that it will translate so well into next year. Keep scrolling to see what we’ve found…
Style Notes: You can really add personality to a boilersuit with little additions like some leopard print boots and matching animal print accessories. When in doubt, stick to one colour way. Make like an instagram influencer and add a belt bag and chunky sandals. Utilitarian overalls also come in this season’s favourite denim alternative: cord. Corduroy is already burst back onto the scene again so adding to a boilersuit was a no brainer.
Style Notes: Your boilersuit should have the following: pockets (patch ones on the chest are ideal), a belt (chunkier the better), rolled-up hems (to show off your chunky sole dad sneakers) and a little bit of attitude.
Style Notes: trainers are very welcome too—just show a slice of ankle for the most flattering silhouette. We’d recommend some crisp, white converse.
